Bitcoin casinos let you deposit, play and withdraw using cryptocurrency instead of cards or bank transfers. The appeal is easy to see: deposits arrive in minutes, withdrawals can reach your wallet the same day, and many crypto casinos offer large bonuses and games whose fairness you can verify yourself.

The risks are just as real, and most guides skip them. The great majority of crypto casinos hold offshore licences that offer players limited protection, and they are not permitted to accept players in many regulated markets, including Germany, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Crypto prices move, mistakes on the blockchain cannot be reversed, and "anonymous" play is often less anonymous than advertised.

This page lists only crypto casinos that have passed our licence, payout and complaint checks and that accept players from your location. Below the list you will find a complete guide: how crypto payments work, which coins and networks to use, what provably fair really proves, how to protect your wallet and where crypto gambling is and is not allowed.

Before you continue: check whether online gambling with an offshore operator is legal where you live. If your country has its own licensing system, a locally licensed casino gives you far stronger protection, even if it does not accept cryptocurrency. Our ranking of the best online casinos shows the safest licensed options for your country.

What Is a Bitcoin Casino?

A Bitcoin casino is an online casino that accepts Bitcoin, and usually other cryptocurrencies, for deposits and withdrawals. There are two main kinds.

Crypto-only casinos run entirely on cryptocurrency. Balances are held in BTC, ETH, USDT or another coin, or in a currency such as USD that is converted at deposit and withdrawal. These sites often offer crypto-native games such as provably fair dice, crash and plinko alongside slots and live games from established studios.

Hybrid casinos accept both traditional payment methods and crypto. You might deposit by card or e-wallet and withdraw in Bitcoin, or the reverse. Hybrid casinos tend to look and feel like conventional casinos, with crypto as an extra cashier option.

In both cases, the casino itself is still a gambling operator. It still needs a licence, still has a house edge on every game and still has terms that decide whether and how quickly you can withdraw. Paying in crypto changes the payment rail, not the fundamentals.

How Crypto Deposits and Withdrawals Work

If you have never used cryptocurrency, the process is simpler than it sounds, but every step has to be done carefully.

  1. Get a wallet. You need a crypto wallet: an app on your phone, a browser extension, a hardware device or an account at a crypto exchange. Exchanges are convenient for buying crypto; self-custody wallets give you full control of your funds.
  2. Buy or transfer crypto. Buy the coin you want at a regulated exchange or move it from an existing wallet.
  3. Copy the casino's deposit address. In the casino cashier, choose the coin and the network, then copy the deposit address or scan the QR code. Many casinos generate a unique address for each player.
  4. Send the transaction. In your wallet, paste the address, double-check it, choose the same network, enter the amount and confirm. Your wallet shows the network fee before you send.
  5. Wait for confirmations. The casino credits your deposit once the blockchain has confirmed the transaction a set number of times. Depending on the coin, this takes from a few seconds to around half an hour.
  6. Withdraw to your own address. To cash out, paste your wallet's receiving address into the casino cashier, again choosing the correct network. The casino processes the request and broadcasts the transaction.

Two rules prevent most losses. Always send a small test transaction first when you use a new address or network. And never send coins from an exchange to a casino if the exchange prohibits gambling transactions, because some exchanges freeze accounts that do.

Cryptocurrencies You Will See at Crypto Casinos

Most crypto casinos accept a handful of major coins. They differ in speed, fees and price stability.

Cryptocurrency

Typical confirmation time

Fees

Price stability

Notes

Bitcoin (BTC)

About 10 minutes per block; casinos often wait for 1–3 confirmations

Varies with network demand, can be high

Volatile

The most widely accepted coin

Bitcoin via Lightning

Near-instant

Very low

Volatile

Fast and cheap, but supported by fewer casinos

Ethereum (ETH)

Seconds to a few minutes

Can be high at busy times

Volatile

Also used for many tokens

Tether (USDT)

Seconds to minutes depending on network

Low on some networks, higher on others

Pegged to the US dollar

Popular for avoiding price swings

USD Coin (USDC)

Seconds to minutes

Depends on network

Pegged to the US dollar

Alternative stablecoin

Litecoin (LTC)

About 2.5 minutes per block

Low

Volatile

Fast and cheap alternative to BTC

If you want to avoid price risk while your money sits in a casino balance, stablecoins such as USDT or USDC are the simplest option, because their value is designed to track the US dollar. Bear in mind that stablecoins carry risks of their own, including the issuer's reserves and regulatory changes.

Choosing the Right Network: The Most Expensive Mistake

Many coins exist on more than one blockchain network. USDT, for example, is commonly available on several networks, each with its own address format and fees. If you send coins on one network to an address that expects another, the funds may be lost permanently, and neither the casino nor your wallet provider may be able to recover them.

Before every deposit and withdrawal, check three things: the coin, the network and the address. Some coins and networks also require a memo or destination tag in addition to the address; leaving it out can send your funds to the casino's general wallet without crediting your account. When in doubt, ask support before sending, and start with a small amount.

Price Volatility and Your Balance

Cryptocurrency prices can move several percent in a day. That matters at a casino in two ways.

If your casino balance is held in Bitcoin, its value in euros or dollars rises and falls with the market even when you are not playing. Deposit 0.01 BTC worth €600, and if the price falls 10% before you withdraw, your balance is worth €540 even if you have not placed a single bet.

If your balance is held in a fiat currency such as USD, the casino converts your crypto at deposit and converts it back at withdrawal. Your casino balance is then stable, but the exchange rates and any conversion spread used by the casino affect what you receive. Check which rate the casino uses and whether it charges a conversion fee.

Neither model is better in itself. What matters is that you understand which one applies and that you do not mistake a market move for a win or a loss at the tables.

Provably Fair Games: What They Prove and What They Don't

Many crypto casinos offer provably fair games, a system that lets you check that a result was not changed after you placed your bet. It works like this:

  1. Before the round, the casino commits to a secret server seed by showing you its cryptographic hash.
  2. You provide, or can change, a client seed. A nonce counts your bets.
  3. The result is calculated from the server seed, client seed and nonce.
  4. After the round, or when you change seeds, the casino reveals the server seed. You can check that it matches the hash shown earlier and recalculate the result yourself, using the casino's verifier or an independent tool.

This is a genuine improvement in transparency. It proves that the casino did not pick the result after seeing your bet. What it does not prove is that the game's odds are favourable. Provably fair games still have a house edge, set in the game's rules, and you should check the published RTP just as you would for any other game. Provably fair also applies only to the casino's own games; slots and live games from third-party studios rely on the usual independent lab testing instead.

Anonymity and KYC: Myth and Reality

Many crypto casinos advertise "no KYC" or anonymous play. In practice, this deserves caution.

Licensed operators, including offshore ones, are generally required to apply anti-money-laundering checks. Even casinos that let you register with only an email address usually reserve the right to request identity documents, often when you try to withdraw a larger amount. Players who expected anonymity sometimes find their withdrawal on hold until they provide documents they did not plan to share.

The blockchain itself is also public. Transactions are pseudonymous rather than anonymous, and exchanges that link your identity to your wallet can make your activity traceable. If privacy matters to you, read the casino's KYC policy in full before depositing, and assume that verification may be required at some point.

Licensing: Crypto Casinos and the Law

This is the most important section on this page. Whether a crypto casino is legal for you depends on where you live, not on whether you pay in Bitcoin.

Market

Situation for crypto casinos

Great Britain

Licensed casinos must meet strict UK Gambling Commission rules; crypto deposits are very rare at UK-licensed sites, and offshore sites are not licensed to serve British players

Germany

Only GGL-whitelisted operators may offer online slots; they do not accept cryptocurrency, and offshore crypto casinos are not permitted

Spain, Italy, Portugal

Online gambling is limited to DGOJ, ADM and SRIJ licensees, which do not offer crypto payments; offshore crypto casinos are not authorised

Netherlands

Only KSA-licensed operators are permitted

United States

Real-money online casinos are legal only in a handful of states and only through state-licensed operators

Countries without local licensing

Crypto casinos with offshore licences operate here, with the limited protections those licences provide

Most crypto casinos hold licences from offshore regulators. Curaçao, the most common, overhauled its licensing system in 2024, and the level of practical protection for players still varies widely. An offshore licence is not worthless, but it rarely offers the dispute resolution, fund protection and national self-exclusion that local licences provide.

We list a crypto casino only if its licence can be verified on a public register, its payout record is strong and it accepts players from your location. Using a VPN to access a casino that does not accept players from your country breaches its terms and usually leads to confiscated winnings.

Bitcoin Casino Bonuses

Crypto casinos are known for large welcome packages, reload bonuses, rakeback and VIP programmes. The same rules apply as at any casino: the wagering requirement, maximum bet, eligible games and expiry decide what a bonus is worth, not the headline figure.

Two crypto-specific points are worth checking. First, find out which currency the bonus and its limits are expressed in. A max bet of "5" means very different things in USD and in BTC. Second, check whether bonus winnings are paid in the coin you deposited or converted, and at what rate. Our guide to the best casino bonuses explains how to calculate real value, and our no deposit bonuses page includes crypto offers from casinos we have tested.

How We Review Bitcoin Casinos

Crypto casinos go through the same review process as every operator in our casino reviews, using the same weighting: 30% licensing, 25% payout speed, 20% bonus fairness, 15% complaint history and 10% games. On top of that, we test crypto-specific points.

  • Licence verification on the regulator's public register, with the company, domain and status matched.
  • Timed crypto withdrawals from request to arrival in our wallet, for at least two coins, including any manual review period.
  • Fees and limits, including network fees passed on to players, minimum withdrawals and daily or weekly maximums.
  • KYC triggers, recording when and why the casino asked for documents during our tests.
  • Provably fair verification, checking that seeds and hashes can be verified independently.
  • Exchange rates and conversion, where balances are held in fiat currency.
  • Complaint history, with particular attention to withdrawal delays and account closures.

The full method is published on our page explaining how we review online casinos.

Red Flags at Crypto Casinos

The crypto world attracts more scams than most, and some target gamblers specifically. Walk away if you see any of these.

  • No licence, or a licence number that cannot be found on any public register.
  • A demand for an extra deposit, "tax" or "unlock fee" before a withdrawal can be released.
  • Support that moves you to private chat apps and asks for remote access to your device.
  • Anyone, including "support staff", asking for your wallet's seed phrase or private key.
  • Promises of guaranteed profits, betting systems that "cannot lose" or copy-trading style gambling schemes.
  • "Recovery services" offering to retrieve lost crypto or confiscated winnings for an upfront fee.
  • Airdrops or free tokens that require you to connect your wallet to an unknown site.

Protecting Your Wallet

Your crypto is only as safe as the wallet that holds it. These habits protect it.

  • Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone, for any reason. No legitimate casino or support agent will ever ask for it.
  • Use two-factor authentication on exchange accounts and casino accounts.
  • Consider a hardware wallet for larger amounts, and keep only what you plan to gamble in a hot wallet.
  • Use address whitelisting where your exchange or wallet offers it, so withdrawals can only go to addresses you have approved.
  • Send a small test transaction whenever you use a new address or network.
  • Withdraw winnings promptly rather than leaving large balances at any casino.

Taxes on Crypto Gambling

Tax rules for crypto and for gambling are both country-specific, and they can overlap. In some countries gambling winnings are tax-free while selling or exchanging cryptocurrency can create a taxable gain; in others the reverse applies. Converting winnings back to your local currency may itself be a taxable event. Keep records of deposits, withdrawals and the exchange rates at the time, and check your local rules or ask a tax adviser.

Games at Bitcoin Casinos

Most crypto casinos combine three types of games. Slots and live dealer games from well-known studios work exactly as they do at any other casino, with the same RTPs and independent testing. Table games such as roulette, blackjack, baccarat and video poker are usually available in both RNG and live versions. Crypto-native games such as dice, crash, mines and plinko are often provably fair and let you choose your own risk level.

Whichever you play, the house edge depends on the game and its rules, not on the currency. If you are new to table games, learn the rules and the odds first in our free demos: free roulette, free blackjack, free baccarat and free video poker. They cost nothing and need no wallet.

Crypto on Mobile, New Crypto Casinos and Alternatives

Crypto casinos are usually built for phones, and wallet apps make mobile deposits quick: scan the QR code in the cashier, confirm in your wallet and play. Our mobile casinos guide covers mobile security habits that matter even more when your wallet and casino are on the same device.

Many crypto casinos are new brands, especially since Curaçao's 2024 licensing reform led to a wave of relaunches and rebrands. Our list of new online casinos explains how to judge a site with a short track record.

If what attracts you to crypto is fast payouts rather than crypto itself, a locally licensed casino with e-wallet or instant banking withdrawals may give you similar speed with much stronger protection.

Play Responsibly

Crypto removes many of the natural pauses in gambling. There is no bank statement, deposits take seconds and balances can feel abstract. Set a budget in your local currency, not in coins, and stick to it. Use the deposit limits and time-outs that the casino offers, and remember that offshore casinos are not connected to national self-exclusion schemes such as GAMSTOP or OASIS, so self-exclusion has to be arranged with each site individually. Blocking software can help if you want a complete break. You must be 18 or older (21 in some jurisdictions) to gamble. Our responsible gambling page lists free, confidential help services by country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Bitcoin casinos legal?

It depends on where you live. In countries with their own licensing systems, such as Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Great Britain, offshore crypto casinos are not authorised. In countries without local licensing, offshore-licensed crypto casinos operate, but with limited player protection.

Are Bitcoin casinos safe?

Some are reliable and pay quickly; others are not. Check the licence on the regulator's register, read our review, test a small withdrawal first and never share your wallet's seed phrase.

How fast are Bitcoin casino withdrawals?

At good casinos, crypto withdrawals are processed within minutes to a few hours and arrive once the network confirms them. Manual reviews, KYC checks and network congestion can add time.

Can I play anonymously with Bitcoin?

Not reliably. Even casinos that advertise "no KYC" usually reserve the right to request documents, often at withdrawal, and blockchain transactions are publicly visible.

What does provably fair mean?

It is a cryptographic method that lets you verify a game result was not changed after your bet. It does not remove the house edge; every game still has one.

Which cryptocurrency is best for casino payments?

It depends on what you value. Litecoin and some stablecoin networks are fast and cheap; stablecoins avoid price swings; Bitcoin is the most widely accepted. Always use the network the casino specifies.

Do I pay tax on crypto casino winnings?

Possibly, depending on your country's rules for both gambling and cryptocurrency. Keep records and check with a tax adviser.
